I have heard it said that people care more about why are you doing something than what you are actually doing.

For the last 3 months I have been in this CGA leadership program and to be honest I had no idea why I was here.

I mean, I knew I would learn things about being a leader that I didn’t already know, but I didn’t know what I didn’t know until I got here.

About a month ago the Lord made it very clear to me that He has me in CGA to prepare me for long-term.  As I prayed about my “why” I kept hearing the Lord say he is preparing me for more.  He is preparing me to squad lead which means leading a group for the first 5 months of their 11 month trip. But squad leading isn’t the end. The Lord is preparing me for life, not just a trip to other countries.

So why am I in Georgia right now?

  • I am here to learn empathy.
  • I am here to learn what it looks like to walk with people through hard things like finding who they really are and not who they have always had to be to survive hard home lives.
  • I am here to continue to show people that there is freedom. Things that they have walked through their whole life and they think they will hold onto for the rest of their life like addiction, people-pleasing, abuse, and anger…there is freedom from these things.
  • I am here for the Lord to lead me in his love for those around me.
  • I am here to be exactly who the Lord made me. Leadership is giving out of overflow. I pray that I give out of overflow. Most of my life I have had a performance-based mindset.  If I do this or that, people will follow me, but the reality is I am not a leader apart from the Lord. I can do nothing apart from Him. So right now I am seeking him and I pray that will overflow and others will follow my example.

A few weeks ago I got this really cool picture from the Lord…

There was a bright yellow light ahead of me and I was walking towards it. I didn’t realize it at first, but there were hundreds of people following me. I continued to focus on the light in front of me. The Lord said the word “follower.”  “When you follow you lead.”  I follow Jesus people follow me. As I move closer to Jesus, those people following me move closer to Him.

It actually has nothing to do with me.

It’s about people moving closer to Jesus.

We’re doing the thing in Georgia!

Much love, Carson

As a part of my leadership program we will take a 3 week trip to Morocco in April to share the Gospel.

If you feel led please consider partnering with me. I have 1 month to reach my final financial deadline and I am $6,000 away from that goal.
